Transportation Action Plan

Project Overview

While Ada County Development Services is not a transportation agency, we work with agencies like ITD and ACHD on a daily basis, and strive to be collaborative partners as Ada County continues to grow at an unprecedented rate. As such, we developed a Transportation Action Plan, which was adopted into our Comprehensive Plan by the Board of County on February 9, 2022.

Goals of the TAP:

  • To have a more coordinated approach to land use and transportation planning
  • To facilitate the identification and prioritization of transportation projects when working with planning partners such as ACHD, VRT, ITD, and Cities
  • To create a more efficient, value-added, and consistent process for commenting on projects, programs, and policies
  • To further promote information-sharing between agencies

Public Outreach and Process

Ada County Development Services participated in listening sessions with several key stakeholders throughout the county. These listening sessions provided valuable feedback and guidance for staff as we work toward a final Transportation Action Plan. Stakeholders suggested adopting roadway standards that align with ACHD and city standards, adopting city-approved pathways and trails plans, and requiring ROW or easements for trails and pathways as development occurs in unincorporated Ada County. Guidelines for developing project prioritization from an Ada County perspective and continuing to enhance communication and collaboration throughout the county, were also valuable takeaways from stakeholders. The following agencies and organizations participated in listening sessions:
