Diversion means keeping waste out of a landfill. It works best if you separate your load prior to arriving at the landfill.

What we currently accept in our Recovery & Diversion Area:
  • Cardboard– clean household cardboard only- no wood or polystyrene foam
  • Landscaping wood waste – branches, trees, brush – Please, no thorns or bamboo
  • Clean wood waste – pallets, lumber, plywood – NO stained, painted, burned, or pressure-treated wood
  • Clean concrete/asphalt rubble and chunks
  • Scrap metal – metal appliances, workout equipment, grills, etc.
  • Electrical cords, Christmas lights, etc.- place in green metal bin
  • Lawn mowers, weed eaters, tillers, etc.
  • Bicycles – set aside by scrap metal so they don’t get damaged
  • Tires– all sizes- Please call ahead for 12 or more and large tractor tires or tracks
  • E-waste: TVs, monitors, printers, microwaves, phones, and electronics

Household Hazardous Waste – Please drop off at our landfill HHW facility or a mobile collection site. Household Hazardous Waste deposits are FREE! Please deliver in open containers, not bags. HHW includes: household chemical cleaners, paints, automotive fluids, propane tanks, fire extinguishers, fire alarms, batteries (rechargeable, button, lithium-ion), etc.

All E-waste, including TVs and monitors, can be dropped off for free at our Recovery & Diversion Area as long as it is your only deposit, otherwise you will be charged for weight.

Please note:

Ada County Landfill is a Solid Waste Landfill. Liquid Waste and Hazardous Waste are not allowed in the landfill.

Depositing campers, trailers, boats, and other items requiring registration: you must come with proof of ownership- title and/or registration- matching the name on the driver’s license of the person depositing the item. Please call ahead for more instructions.

Mattresses– Unfortunately, we are not able to recycle mattresses and box springs. They can be deposited in the Landfill. Metal frames can go into the scrap metal pile in Recovery & Diversion Area.

If Scale House windows are closed, please use intercoms provided at each station.

Our office has moved! As of June 16, 2023, we will be located at our new Admin/Operations Office just up the hill. Please check in at scale house and they will direct you. Thank you.

Monday –  Friday 7:00 am – 6:00 pm
Saturday 8:00 am – 6:00 pm

ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICES
Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 4:00 pm. Office is closed for national holidays even when Landfill is open.

LANDFILL HAZARDOUS WASTE FACILITY
Friday/Saturday 8:00 am – 6:00 pm

Landfill and HHW facility closed on Major Holidays: New Years, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day

 

Landfill Pricing:

Deposits are charged by weight: As of October 1, 2023, General Tipping Fee is $32/ton or $15.00 minimum up to 1,035 lbs.

Landfill Payments:

We accept cash, check, or debit/credit card payments.  Credit cards accepted: Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express.

As of Monday, April 17, 2023, an additional 2.4% fee will be added to all debit and credit card purchases over $80. For debit and credit card purchases under $80, there is a $2 fee.

New Online Payment Option:

For all online e-check payments, there is a $3 flat fee.
