Ordinary Waste

ORDINARY WASTE is what is generated during the normal course of daily living or business. It is basically what you throw in your trash can every week for curbside pick-up. It is a routine process that most of us never give additional consideration as to:

  • where it is going
  • how it will be processed
  • how our environment might be impacted

Your trash is now out of sight and certainly out of mind. It just goes away.

Ordinary waste once delivered to the landfill is compacted with heavy equipment and covered with sand/dirt to start the anaerobic process. The anaerobic process is the beginning process that creates landfill gas. On average the Ada County Landfill accepts over a million cubic yards of ordinary waste every year.
