9/18/2023 to 9/22/2023 West Nile Virus Discoveries in Ada County

Mosquitoes collected in Ada County traps tested positive for West Nile virus (WNV), this week. The mosquitoes were trapped in the following locations:

  • near the intersection of North Jayker Way and West Magic Spruce Drive in Meridian on September 19th
  • near the intersection of Lubkin Street and Amber Street in Boise on September 20th
  • in Mariposa Park in Boise on September 20th
  • in Florence Park in Boise on September 22nd

The areas surrounding the detection sites will be treated within a one-mile radius to knock down adult mosquito populations and prevent human cases of WNV. The Ada County Mosquito Abatement District will continue to monitor and treat populations throughout the abatement district boundaries to control mosquitoes and prevent WNV from being transmitted to humans and livestock.
