8/28/2023 to 9/1/2023 West Nile Virus Discoveries in Ada County

Mosquitoes collected in Ada County traps tested positive for West Nile virus (WNV), this week. The mosquitoes were trapped in the following locations:

  • near the intersection of West Beacon Light Road and North Pollard Lane in Star on August 29th
  • near the intersection of West Safari Drive and North Star Road in Star on August 29th
  • near the intersection of West Tree Crest Drive and West Lovegood Lane in Meridian on August 29th
  • near Reid Merrill Park in Eagle on August 30th
  • near the intersection of Amber Street and Lubkin Street in Boise on August 30th
  • near the intersection of North Boulder Creek Avenue and North Lilyturf Avenue in Meridian on August 31st
  • near the intersection of North Bennington Way and North Stockwell Drive in Boise on August 31st
  • near the intersection of West Wilder Street and Pudu Court in Meridian on August 31st
  • near the intersection of Crosby Drive and West Arnaz Street in Meridian on August 31st
  • near the intersection of North Jayker Way and West Magic Spruce Drive in Meridian on September 1st
  • near the intersection of West Arabian Drive and West Sandy River Drive in Boise on September 1st
  • near the intersection of West Modena Drive and North Livorno Way in Eagle on September 1st
  • near the intersection of East Autumn Way and Ravenswood Drive in Meridian on September 1st
  • near the intersection of West Rice Road and North Deerhaven Way in Star on September 1st

The areas surrounding the detection sites will be treated within a one-mile radius to knock down adult mosquito populations and prevent human cases of WNV. The Ada County Mosquito Abatement District will continue to monitor and treat populations throughout the abatement district boundaries to control mosquitoes and prevent WNV from being transmitted to humans and livestock.
