8/21/2023 to 8/25/2023 West Nile Virus Discoveries in Ada County

Mosquitoes collected in Ada County traps tested positive for West Nile virus (WNV), this week. The mosquitoes were trapped in the following locations:

  • near the intersection of West Safari Drive and North Outdoorsman Avenue in Star on August 22nd
  • near the intersection of West Bray Creek Street and North Tresa Place in Star on August 22nd
  • in Eagle Island State Park on August 22nd
  • near the end of Clear Creek Drive in Meridian on August 22nd
  • near the intersection of West Founders Drive and North Nordic Drive in Eagle on August 22nd
  • near the intersection of West Tree Crest Drive and West Lovegood Lane in Meridian on August 22nd
  • near the intersection of North Rosa Springs Avenue and East Segundo Street in Meridian on August 23nd
  • near the intersection of Viewhill Avenue North and East Blue Heron Street in Meridian on August 23nd
  • near the intersection of North Bennington Way and North Strockwell Drive in Boise on August 23nd
  • near Fuller Park in Meridian on August 23nd
  • near the intersection of South Culbertson Way and West Horsham Drive in Boise on August 24th
  • near the intersection of North Bennington Way and North Stockwell Drive in Boise on August 25th
  • near the intersection of El Segundo Street and North Red Horse Way in Meridian on August 25th
  • near the intersection of McKinney Street and West Ustic Road in Boise on August 25th
  • near the intersection of Crosby Drive West and West Arnaz Street in Meridian on August 25th

The areas surrounding the detection sites will be treated within a one-mile radius to knock down adult mosquito populations and prevent human cases of WNV. The Ada County Mosquito Abatement District will continue to monitor and treat populations throughout the abatement district boundaries to control mosquitoes and prevent WNV from being transmitted to humans and livestock.
