7/31/2023 to 8/4/2023 West Nile Virus Discovery in Ada County

Mosquitoes collected in Ada County traps tested positive for West Nile virus (WNV), this week. The mosquitoes were trapped in the following locations:

  • near the intersection of South Devon Ave and West Andromeda Drive in Star on August 1st
  • near the end of South McLintock Place in Meridian on August 2nd
  • near the intersection of River Chase Way and South Hidden Island Place in Eagle on August 2nd
  • near the intersection of West State Street and North Riverview Street in Eagle on August 2nd
  • near the intersection of South Lone Brook Way and East Lone Shore Lane in Eagle on August 2nd
  • near the intersection of Cloverdale Road and East Deer Flat Road in Kuna on August 3rd
  • in Hubbard Reservoir Recreation Area in Kuna on August 3rd
  • near the intersection of South Swan Falls Road and East Littlehawk Lane in Kuna on August 3rd
  • near the intersection of South Eckert Road and South Millbrook Way in Boise on August 3rd
  • in Marianne Williams Park in Boise on August 3rd

The areas surrounding the detection sites will be treated within a one-mile radius to knock down adult mosquito populations and prevent human cases of WNV. The Ada County Mosquito Abatement District will continue to monitor and treat populations throughout the abatement district boundaries to control mosquitoes and prevent WNV from being transmitted to humans and livestock.
