7/24/2023 to 7/28/2023 West Nile Virus Discoveries in Ada County

Mosquitoes collected in Ada County traps tested positive for West Nile virus (WNV), this week. The mosquitoes were trapped in the following locations:

  • near the end of Gantz Avenue in Boise on Tuesday, July 25
  • near the intersection of Gantz Avenue and South Diego Way in Boise on Tuesday, July 25
  • near the intersection of West Chateau Drive and North Todd Way in Meridian on Wednesday, July 26
  • near the intersection of East Littlehawk Lane and South Swan Falls Road in Kuna on Thursday, July 27
  • in Eagle Island State Park on Thursday, July 27
  • near the intersection of Cloverdale Road and East Deer Flat Road in Kuna on Thursday, July 27
  • near the intersection West State Street and North 27th Street in Boise on Thursday, July 27
  • near the intersection of West Nazareth Way and North Five Mile Road in Boise on Friday, July 28
  • near the intersection of West Hickory Hill Court and North Hickory Knot Street in Boise on Friday, July 28
  • near the intersection of North Ten Mile Road and West Malta Drive in Meridian on Friday, July 28

The areas surrounding the detection sites will be treated within a one-mile radius to knock down adult mosquito populations and prevent human cases of WNV. The Ada County Mosquito Abatement District will continue to monitor and treat populations throughout the abatement district boundaries to control mosquitoes and prevent WNV from being transmitted to humans and livestock.
