National Mosquito Control Awareness Week

This is National Mosquito Control Awareness Week, and Ada County Weed, Pest and Mosquito Abatement would like to remind you to be mosquito-safe this summer!
West Nile virus, the leading cause of mosquito-borne illness in the continental United States, has already been discovered in Ada County in 2023–a very early discovery in the mosquito season.

To protect you and your family, be sure to follow the 3 D’s: Drain, Dress, and Defend.

Drain any standing water near your home.
Dress in light-colored long-sleeved tops and pants.
Defend yourself by using an EPA-approved insect repellant with DEET, Picaridin, or Oil of Lemon Eucalyptus as primary active ingredients.

Follow along on our Facebook Page throughout the week for more tips on how to protect your family from mosquitoes this summer, and visit the Mosquito Abatement at Home Page on our website for additional resources.
