We are often the first stop for someone going through the court system. We are responsible for maintaining court records, new case filings, processing traffic tickets, overseeing the court’s administration and ensuring information moves through the court system efficiently. The Ada County Clerk’s Office oversees civil court and infraction, misdemeanor and felony court.

Deputy prosecutors assigned to the Juvenile Division handle all types of cases involving juvenile offenders, including felony, misdemeanor, and status offenses, such as Runaway, Beyond Control of Parent, and Curfew. Juvenile Division deputy prosecutors also handle all involuntary adult mental commitment cases, child mental commitment cases, and developmentally disabled commitment cases in Ada County.

The Public Defender’s duties include arguing preliminary motions in court, conducting criminal investigations, interviewing witnesses and clients, preparing cases for trial, negotiating plea agreements, trying cases in front of juries and judges, and arguing post-trial motions.
