Important Information for Boise River Floaters

This 4th of July weekend will likely be the busiest weekend in the history of Barber Park!
If you’re new to the area, or have never floated the river before, there are some critically important things to remember. First, float at your own risk. The Boise River is a natural fast moving waterway subject to sometime unpredictable currents and occasional branches.

Floating devices meant for a swimming pool are not the best choice when floating the river. Also, the water is extremely cold – generally around 51-55 degrees. You may be on the river for several hours so plan accordingly – hat, sunscreen and river/water shoes; something you can swim in. Please be patient with staff and one another. Mostly importantly plan ahead – and do not park in residential areas.
