How will Property Tax Legislation Passed this Session Affect Me?

Talk to any homeowner in Ada County or other parts of Idaho and you’ll hear the same thing: Property taxes have become a crushing financial burden that can make owning a home almost cost prohibitive for many individuals and families. How will legislation passed this session affect your property taxes?

All 44 counties in Idaho are required to follow the property tax laws enacted by the Idaho Legislature. This year the legislature passed sweeping reforms to address the widespread concern and anger expressed by property owners. House Bill (HB) 292 was passed by the legislature and signed into law despite the first version being vetoed by the governor. You can read the legislation here.
