Counties in Idaho are mandated by the State Legislature to provide essential services to the public including the jail, courts, Coroner, driver’s license offices, election services and solid waste disposal to name a few. More than 46% of the county budget goes toward essential services like public safety, and approximately 17% to judicial services.
