Domestic Violence Purple Thursday Event

Domestic violence knows no bounds, impacting every demographic in our community. That’s why the Board of Commissioners is inviting the public to gather at noon Thursday October 19, 2023 at the FACES Victim Center, a place where medical providers, law enforcement, victim witness coordinators, social workers, and others work together to support all victims and intervene in the cycle of violence.

The event, held on Purple Thursday – the color signifying domestic violence prevention – will include a proclamation read by Ada County Commission Chairman Rod Beck and Commissioners Tom Dayley and Ryan Davidson, guest speakers Ada County Prosecutor Jan Bennetts, Ada County Sheriff Matt Clifford and Community SAFE Team Coordinator Anne Wardle, and a group photo of attendees in purple at the conclusion of the event.

WHERE: Community Room in the FACES Victim Center, 417 S. 6th Street, Boise, ID 83702
BUILDING ACCESS: Guests, media, and event staff are asked to use the Broad Street entrance (directly across from Trader Joe’s, near the corner of 6th and Broad Street). Please do not use the main entrance as clients, victims, and patients using the Center for emergency and scheduled services need privacy and a stress-free visit.

“We all have a role in making our communities safe for victims of interpersonal violence. We want victims and survivors of domestic abuse to feel supported by their community and know about the countless people and resources to assist them. I am proud to join the many stakeholders who work day and night to support those experiencing violence on their journey to freedom,” said Ada County Commission Chairman Rod Beck.
