West Nile Virus Update (8/8/21-8/14/21)

Mosquitoes collected in additional Ada County traps tested positive for West Nile virus (WNV), this week. The mosquitoes were trapped at the following times and locations:

 

Tuesday, August 10:

• near the intersection of South Short Road and Moon Valley Road in Eagle
• near the intersection of West Ten Mile Creek Road and South Cole Road in Kuna
• near the intersection of South Black Oak Avenue and West Tallulah Drive in Kuna
• near the intersection of North Devon Place and West Bray Creek Street in Star
• near North Linder Road and West Stone Valley Road in Meridian
• near the intersection of West Wilder Street and North Morello Avenue in Meridian
• near North Greenfield Avenue and West Quaker Ridge Drive in Meridian
• near the intersection of West 4th Street and North Ash Avenue in Kuna Mediterranean Avenue in Boise

Wednesday, August 11:

• near the intersection of North Cove Colony Way and West State Street in Eagle
• near the intersection of West Lakeland Drive and North Elger Bay Avenue in Garden City

Thursday, August 12:

• near the intersection of North Oxwich Avenue and West Pine Avenue in Meridian
• near the intersection of North Devon Place and West Bray Creek Street in Star
•near the intersection of South Habitat Lane and East Parkriver Drive in Boise

Friday, August 13:
• near the intersection of Ravenswood Drive and Autumn Way in Meridian
• near the intersection of Three Mile Creek Road and West Targee Street in Boise
• near the intersection of North Principle Way and East Florence Drive in Meridian
• near Florence Park in Boise
• near the intersection of West Rockbury Street and South Winthrop Way in Boise
• near the intersection of Farrington Drive and Eagle Hills Way in Eagle

This post will be updated with any new WNV pool discoveries throughout the week.

The areas surrounding the detection sites were treated within a one-mile radius to knock down adult mosquito populations and prevent human cases of WNV. The Ada County Mosquito Abatement District will continue to monitor and treat populations throughout the abatement district boundaries to control mosquitoes and prevent WNV from being transmitted to humans and livestock.
