Drain the Rain to Protect Against Mosquito Bites!

With more weekend rain showers on the way followed by warm temperatures, the Ada County Mosquito Abatement District is asking you to check your yard for sites that could collect water!

Mosquitoes can develop in as little water as the volume of a bottle cap. Old tires, plant water catch trays, child toys, wheelbarrows, buckets, clogged rain gutters, uncovered boats, and any other sites that can collect water are capable of producing the mosquito species that transmit West Nile virus.

Ada County Mosquito Abatement crews are in the field trapping mosquitoes and treating habitat sources of standing water before mosquitoes become a problems. Any development sites of standing water you can remove from your yard will help immensely to protect you and your family from West Nile virus this mosquito season!
