Ada County West Nile Virus Update 8/22/2021 to 8/28/2021

Mosquitoes collected in additional Ada County traps tested positive for West Nile virus (WNV), this week. The mosquitoes were trapped at the following times and locations:

Tuesday, August 24:

  • near intersection of West Moon Valley Road and South Short Road in Eagle
  • near intersection of North Devon Place and West Bray Creek Street in Star
  • near intersection of North Jayker Way and West Old Gold Drive in Meridian
  • near intersection of North Serenity Lane and West Chinden Boulevard in Meridian
  • near Crosby Park in Meridian
  • near intersection of South Star Road and Coriander Lane in Star
  • near Reid Merrill Park in Eagle
  • near intersection of West Back Forty Drive and South Island Glenn Way in Eagle
  • near Seasons Park in Meridian

Wednesday, August 25:

  • near Camel’s Back Park in Boise
  • near Warm Springs Park in Boise

Thursday, August 26:

  • near Ravenswood Drive and Autumn Way in Meridian

Friday, August 27:

  • near the intersection of North Greenfield Avenue and West Ash Drive in Meridian

This post will be updated with any new WNV pool discoveries throughout the week.

The areas surrounding the detection sites will be treated within a one-mile radius to knock down adult mosquito populations and prevent human cases of WNV. The Ada County Mosquito Abatement District will continue to monitor and treat populations throughout the abatement district boundaries to control mosquitoes and prevent WNV from being transmitted to humans and livestock.
