West Nile Virus Update

Mosquitoes collected in Ada County traps tested positive for West Nile virus (WNV) this week. The traps were at the following locations:

  • near Phyllis Slough in Star
  • near West Chinden Boulevard and North Serenity Lane in Meridian
  • near Crosby Park in Meridian
  • near North Linder Road and West Stone Valley Road in Meridian
  • near West Wilder Street and North Morello Ave in Meridian
  • near North Greenfield Avenue and West Quaker Ridge Drive in Meridian
  • near South Kuna-Meridian Road and East King Road in Kuna
  • near South Cloverdale Road and East Deer Flat Road in Kuna
  • near Bown Crossing in Boise
  • near the intersection of South Short Road and Moon Valley Road in Eagle
  • near the intersection of West Wilder Street and North Morello Avenue in Meridian
  • near the intersection of West Raul Street and South Valley Heights Drive in Boise
  • near the intersection of North Linder Road and West Deer Crest Street in Meridian
  • near the intersection of South Mohican Avenue and West Mediterranean Avenue in Boise

This post will be updated with any new WNV pool discoveries throughout the week.

The areas surrounding the detection sites were treated within a one-mile radius to knock down adult mosquito populations and prevent human cases of WNV. The Ada County Mosquito Abatement District will continue to monitor and treat populations throughout the abatement district boundaries to control mosquitoes and prevent WNV from being transmitted to humans and livestock.
