West Nile Virus Update

Mosquitoes collected in two Ada County traps tested positive for West Nile virus (WNV) last night. The trap locations were:
  • July 28: near the Boise River by the intersection of West Riverside Drive and North Lakemont Place in Boise
  • July 28: near the intersection of North Five Mile Road and Meadow Lark Drive in Boise
  • July 29: near the intersection of West Ten Mile Creek Road and South Cole Road in Kuna
  • July 29: near the intersection of South Cloverdale Road and East Deer Flat Road in Kuna
  • July 29: near Barber Park in Boise

The areas surrounding the detection sites were treated within a one-mile radius to knock down adult mosquito populations and prevent human cases of WNV. The Ada County Mosquito Abatement District will continue to monitor and treat populations throughout the abatement district boundaries to control mosquitoes and prevent WNV from being transmitted to humans and livestock.
