Eagle Police are investigating a fatal semi-truck vs. bicycle crash on Idaho 55

Deputies are investigating what led to a fatal semi-truck vs. bicycle crash near the Idaho 55/Beacon Light Road intersection Friday afternoon.

Initial information indicates a teenage boy on his bike was stopped on the west side of Idaho 55, near the Beacon Light Road intersection, around 1:30 p.m. Friday when he was hit by the truck, which had been going south on Idaho 55 before the driver turned right on to Beacon Light.

Witnesses said the driver of the semi didn’t stop but kept going west on Beacon Light.

A motorist called 911 and followed the truck while other witnesses who saw what happened rushed over and immediately began first aid on the boy.

Paramedics transported the teenage boy to a local hospital before he was pronounced deceased a brief time later.

Eagle Police pulled the 70-year-old male driver of the semi over near the Beacon Light/Linder Road intersection and interviewed him about what happened.

The crash is still under active investigation. No charges or citations have been issued at this point.

The Ada County Coroner’s Office, which is determining the official cause and manner of death, will publicly identify the boy at a later time.
