Crisis Negotiations Team

The Crisis Negotiations Team (CNT) is a critical component of the S.W.A.T. team. CNT members are deputies that have had extensive training in crisis intervention and tactical communication. They respond to calls ranging from hostage situations to barricaded, suicidal subjects.

Each situation has unique circumstances that place demand on the team members. Often, weapons and threats of violence are involved. The negotiators’ goal is to achieve cooperative communications that result in voluntary surrender and peaceful resolutions. The CNT works with S.W.A.T. to safely and effectively respond to critical situations.

The ultimate goal of the Crisis Negotiations Team is to help men and women who are in crisis realize a safe, peaceful end to a situation.
