The Ada County Misdemeanor Probation office has moved. We are now located at 7180 Barrister Drive.  The new offices are on the east side of the building, next to the Ada County Sheriff’s Office and the Ada County Jail. The office at 8601 W. Emerald St. is permanently closed.

What is Ada County Misdemeanor Probation?

Probation is a court ordered sentence that allows a person to remain in the community under the supervision of a probation officer.  The conditions of this sentence can vary.  It may include treatment recommendations, classes, community service, fines, and/or restitution.

What does an Ada County Misdemeanor Probation Officer do?

Our probation officers oversee a person who has been sentenced to supervised misdemeanor probation.  Probation officers’ duties include:

  • Monitoring compliance with court orders.
  • Overseeing the rehabilitation of sentenced individuals.
  • Promoting the reduction of criminal behavior.
  • Coordinating drug and alcohol testing.
  • Providing resources to clients and their families.
What qualifications must an Ada County Misdemeanor Probation Officer have?

Ada County Misdemeanor Probation officers are certified through the Idaho Peace Officer Standards and Training Council.  They receive additional training in the areas of substance use, mental health, domestic violence, and sexual offenses.  Our probation officers either have college degrees in social sciences or criminal justice or equivalent experience.

We currently have 12 Probation Officers, 5 Support Staff, 1 Supervisor, and 1 Manager.

The Initial Intake Form is for new misdemeanor probation clients. Please download and complete the form before your first appointment with your probation officer. Call the probation office at 208 577-3380 to schedule your first appointment. View instructions about paying supervision fees online.

After the first appointment with your probation officer, please print and complete the Monthly Check-In Form prior to your monthly follow-up meetings.
