Ada County Sheriff’s Office deputies are still investigating what caused a 19-year-old woman to lose control of her car and crash into a motorcycle on Idaho 21 Friday night — and would like to talk to the driver a white van that may have played a role in the crash.
The impact killed 46-year-old Jaylynnar Lee Doughty, who driving the motorcycle.
The driver and passenger in the car were treated at a local hospital for what appear to be non life-threatening injuries.
Both the motorcycle and car were destroyed in the collision. Boise Fire crews had to cut part of the roof off the car, which was on its side, to get the driver out.
The fatal crash occurred just before 6 p.m. Friday.
According to witness reports, the woman was driving a Saturn coupe northbound on Idaho 21, approaching E. Grand Forest Drive — a portion of the two-lane road where passing is not allowed.
A white passenger van, possibly a Ford XLT, passed the car across the double yellow line, and pulled in front of it. That’s when the driver of the van suddenly hit the brakes, causing the driver of the Saturn to hit her brakes and lose control of the car.
It appears the Saturn briefly went right, and then went left into the southbound lane of Idaho 21, where it collided with the motorcycle seconds later.
The force of the impact knocked the car on its side and back onto the northbound lane. The motorcycle was destroyed. Doughty was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet.
The driver of the van did not stop and kept going northbound.
The speed limit on the portion of Idaho 21 where the crash occurred is 55 mph.
No charges or citations have been filed in connection with the crash.

Deputies interviewed several people but have not yet been able to identify or talk to the driver of the white van.
