CITF investigating officer-involved shooting in south Ada County

The Ada County Critical Incident Task Force is investigating the officer-involved shooting of a 23-year-old man in South Ada County early Sunday.

The incident occurred just after 2 a.m. The man was declared deceased about an hour later.

The deputy involved was not injured during the confrontation.

Deputies were sent to the 10000 block of West Seneca Drive, in the Five Mile/Victory roads neighborhood, at 2:06 a.m. to investigate a report of shots fired.

A resident called 911 to report they heard a loud bang, went outside to find out what happened, and saw a man standing by an irrigation canal, who then fired another shot. The resident ran back inside and called 911.

Deputies arrived moments later and found a man, holding a handgun, standing in the middle of Seneca Drive.

A brief confrontation occurred, and shots were fired by a deputy.

Once deputies secured the scene, paramedics transported the man to a local hospital.

This is an active and ongoing investigation; All information is preliminary at this point.

The case is being investigated by the Ada County Critical Incident Task Force, which does an independent investigation of all uses of lethal force in Ada County. The Boise Police Department is the lead agency for this incident.

The Ada County Coroner’s office will publicly identify the man involved at a later time.
