Body found partially submerged in the Boise River in Eagle last week identified; no signs of foul play

The Ada County Coroner’s office identified the person found partially submerged in the Boise River in Eagle on July 13 as 65-year-old Eric Jorgenson of Boise.

Jorgensen was reported missing to the Boise Police on April 26, after several personal items of his were found near the river in the Willow Lane area near his home in northwest Boise.

Police found evidence during the missing person investigation Jorgenson had made some suicidal statements in the past and was dealing with significant medical issues.

There was no sign of Jorgenson near the river, which was running too high and fast to put a boat in for a search.

Boise Police detectives did not find any evidence during the missing person investigation of crimes or any kind of foul play being involved – and Eagle Police did not find any evidence of that in the follow-up.

The body was eventually found partially submerged in the Boise Rive in Eagle, just south of E. Whitby Lane, around 6:30 p.m. on July 13 by a group of boys recreating nearby who detected a strong smell.

It took several days for coroner’s officials to establish a definitive identification because of the condition of the body.
