70-year-old Star man dies in one-car crash late Tuesday night

Ada County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating what caused a 70-year-old Star man to lose control of his car in the Chinden Blvd./Locust Grove Road intersection and crash into a brick sign late Wednesday night.

Edward W. Rochnowski was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. He was in the car by himself.

Rochnowski was driving a PT Cruiser westbound on Chinden just after 10:30 p.m. when the car went southwest across the intersection, went off the road, and smashed into a brick sign for the Valley Life Community Church.

Witnesses told deputies the car began to wobble just before it went off the road.

Deputies closed the intersection for several hours while crews investigate what happened.

Officials with the Ada County Coroner’s office determined Wednesday the cause of death to be blunt force trauma in connection with the crash and the manner of death to be an accident.
