Ada County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 43-year-old Boise man in connection with a report of a sexual assault at an Eagle-area home earlier this week.
Eric M. Simunich is charged with a felony count of rape. He is being held in the Ada County Jail without bond.
Simunich is scheduled to make his initial court appearance Thursday afternoon.
Detectives began their investigation Monday morning after the victim in the case called 911.
Detectives found evidence Simunich forced himself on the victim and had illegal sexual contact with her at the home several hours before.
Detectives also determined Simunich and the woman met the day before the crime occurred.
Detectives continued to investigate the case and sent their results to the Ada County Prosecutor’s Office, who issued an arrest warrant for Simunich Wednesday.
Simunich turned himself in at the Ada County Jail just before noon Wednesday.
The crime of rape is punishable by up to life in prison.
