27-year-old Nampa man arrested after using Facebook to solicit sex from a 16-year-old girl

Ada County Sheriff’s detectives arrested a 27-year-old Nampa man Thursday who used Facebook to meet a teenage girl and then have illegal sexual contact with her last month.

Colin A. Slaughter is charged with felony counts of sexual battery of a minor between the ages of 16 and 17 and use of a child in sexually exploitative material.

Deputies began their investigation Sept. 21 after being contacted by a parent who discovered explicit messages between Slaughter and their daughter on the girl’s Facebook Messenger app.

Detectives later determined Slaughter first contacted the girl over Facebook on Sept. 17, identifying himself as Christopher Lowe and saying he thought she was someone else. The conversation quickly turned sexual in nature – after the girl told Slaughter she was 16 years old. He said he was 24.

The next night, Slaughter picked up the girl in her Kuna neighborhood and took her to a residence in Eagle, where they had illegal sexual contact.

Detectives found evidence that when Slaughter could not longer use Facebook to contact the victim, he used it to contact the girl’s friends to try to find out what was going on.

Detectives gathered enough evidence to charge Slaughter with the felonies and arrested him outside his Boise-area workplace Thursday morning.

The crime of sexual battery of a minor between the ages of 16 to 17 is punishable by up to 25 years in prison.

Slaughter is set to make his initial court appearance Friday afternoon.

It is unclear if Slaughter had been in contact with other teenage girls. Anyone with information about the case should call Det. Ryan Pacheco at 577-3734.
