Pest Abatement FAQ

Does a resident need to be present for the gopher or rock chuck treatments?

The landowner/residents do not need to be on site for gopher or rock chuck treatment.

How will I know when you have treated my property?

If the landowner is not home, a member of the Ada County Pest Abatement staff will leave a door hanger.

What pests do you provide abatement services for?

Pocket gophers and Rock Chucks (Yellow-bellied Marmots). Ada County does not provide abatement for Voles.

My neighbors have pests, can you treat them?

Ada County can only treat a property at the land owner’s request. The landowner of the adjacent property will have to fill out a Request for Services on their own behalf.

Am I in the Pest District?

You can check your property taxes with our Ada County Assessor online; if you pay the Pest Extermination tax, then you are eligible. You may also call us directly to check on your eligibility at (208) 577-4646.

What can Ada County do to help with Pocket Gopher or Rock Chuck infestations outside of the tax district?

The Ada County Pest Abatement District can help by offering information on how to treat an infestation yourself. Otherwise, a private pest control contractor will have to be procured.
