Boise man charged with trafficking after deputies find meth and fentanyl during traffic stop

James J. Mackley is being held in the Ada County Jail on felony drug trafficking and possession with intent to deliver charges after deputies seized over 400 grams of meth and over 500 fentanyl pills following a traffic stop on Interstate 84 Thursday afternoon.

The 42-year-old Mackley is also charged with a DUI in connection with the incident, which began just after 5:15 p.m. Thursday when a patrol deputy going eastbound on I-84 saw a black sedan almost hit another car during a lane change.

The deputy pulled over the black sedan and noticed the driver, Mackley, appeared to be intoxicated.

When Mackley got out, there was white residue on his pants. He admitted he took some narcotic medication earlier in the day that was not prescribed to him.

A K9 drug dog indicated the presence of drugs in the car. Deputies eventually found several packages of drugs inside, along with a significant amount of drug paraphernalia – including packaging materials, a digital scale, and a pill press.

Deputies arrested Mackley and booked him in the Ada County Jail, where he is being held on a $750,000 bond.
