Seeking Conflict Public Defender Contract Attorneys

The Ada County Public Defender’s Office is seeking letters of interest for conflict public defender contracts from licensed attorneys in good standing with the Idaho State Bar. Licensed attorneys will perform conflict indigent legal defense services for individuals in juvenile and child protection matters, misdemeanors, felonies, and post-conviction relief petitions.  Contracted conflict public defenders are provided for clients, from arraignment through disposition of their case, when the Ada County Public Defender’s Office is unable to represent the client because of a conflict of interest.

Contracted attorneys must be willing to accept cases for all types of cases listed above and cannot be limited to specialized areas.  Contracted attorneys must provide competent and zealous representation to conflict clients as required by the Idaho Rules of Professional Conduct and the Idaho Public Defense Act.  Interested attorneys must have a broad range of experience in misdemeanor and felony criminal litigation, as well as juvenile cases, child protection matters, petitions filed under the Uniform Post Conviction Act, and criminal and/or civil contempts.

The contract will be classified as an independent contractor with most caseloads being paid at a rate of $65/hr.

Letters of interest, resumes, and professional references should be e-mailed to: [email protected]
