Ada County and the District Court Celebrates Juror Appreciation Week

Juror Appreciation Week is May 9th through May 13th – A time to show appreciation for the jurors who have served on a grand jury or spent countless days in trial to provide justice in hundreds of cases tried in Ada County. Juror Appreciation Week is also an opportunity to express gratitude to those who did not serve but responded to their summonses.

Jury trials are a core value of American citizenship. Indeed, the obligation and privilege to serve as a juror is as fundamental to our democracy as our right to vote.

Ada County citizens have understood the importance of this duty and fulfilled their obligation. This despite the uncertainty and risks cause by the pandemic, as illustrated by the 103 criminal jury trials held in 2020, the 160 held in 2021, and the 103 jury trials held since March 1, 2022.

To celebrate jurors’ commitment, the Idaho Courts and the Board of Ada County Commissioners have designated May 9 through May 13 as Juror Appreciation Week.
