Recycling Public Meeting & Survey

(Boise, ID) – The Board of Ada County Commissioners (BOCC) is wanting to gather feedback on recycling changes that could affect customers in unincorporated Ada County.

Due to recent changes in global markets for recyclable materials, market pricing no longer supports the increasing cost of sorting, baling and shipping.  Rate increases will be required to pay the contractor and continue with the recycle program, even if mitigated by removing mixed paper from the recycle stream.

These rate increases would affect customers in unincorporated Ada County. Before any rate increases are considered, the BOCC would like to hear from its citizens to gain a better understanding of how they feel about these proposed changes. The BOCC has an opportunity to provide feedback and encourages you to take part.

  • Ada County Billing Services customers will receive a survey with their invoice that was sent out on April 10, 2018. Please complete the survey by Monday April 30, 2018.
  • Attend a public meeting on recycling changes on Wednesday April 18, 2018 at 6pm in the public hearing room of the Ada County Courthouse | 200 W. Front Street, Boise 83702.
    • This meeting gives residents an opportunity to share their opinions and to also have their questions answered by county officials, Republic Services representatives and Western Recycling representatives.

If the BOCC chooses to propose a rate increase to pay the contractor, so that the recycling program can continue, a public hearing would be scheduled and the public would be notified as required by state code.
