History of the Expo

The Park at Expo Idaho is a once in a generation park being developed on Ada County’s Expo Idaho property. Years ago, before the Idaho Legislature outlawed betting on horse races there were stables and a horse track on the property at the corner of Chinden and Glenwood Avenue. After the decision to move away from betting on horse racing, a vast open area adjacent to the Boise River was idle.  Ada County Commissioners Ryan Davidson, Chairman Rod Beck and Tom Dayley are enthusiastic supporters of using that cleared space for something that will benefit the entire community; an area that accentuates what people love best about our area – open spaces to connect with nature. Places to be active. The Park at Expo Idaho, your park, is scheduled to be complete in late 2026.  It will have nature trails, adventure playgrounds and all wheel skate parks, just to name a few amenities. We hope you follow along here as the project continues.  We have included site plans that show where various amenities will be located. There is a lot of work to be done and we are so grateful we can show you the progress along the way.
