Emmett man crashes car into house, charged with DUI, injury to child

Last night at about 9pm, Eagle Police deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of E. Aikens St. in Eagle, Idaho, for a report of a crash involving a vehicle into a house.

When deputies arrived on scene, they located an unoccupied white Ford Mustang that had crashed into a house. No residents were inside the home at time of the crash. According to witnesses, the driver of the vehicle had fled the scene. The passenger — a teenage male juvenile — remained on scene. The juvenile received minor injuries in the crash. A loaded firearm was located next to the driver’s seat.

Deputies located the driver, identified as 27-year-old Matthew Jeffs of Emmett, approximately half a mile away from the scene of the crash. Jeffs was transported to the hospital for minor injuries.

Jeffs was later booked into the Ada County Jail for felony injury to child, misdemeanor driving under the influence, misdemeanor leaving the scene of an accident, and misdemeanor carrying concealed weapons under the influence of alcohol.
