Eagle pursuit leads to DUI, fleeing and eluding arrest

On August 31, 2024, at approximately 4:10pm, Eagle Police deputies were dispatched to a report of a possible drunk driver. The initial calling party told Ada County Dispatch a silver Hyundai Sonata was driving erratically by swerving and driving onto the shoulder.

An additional calling party told dispatch they saw them throw what appeared to be a beer can out of the window.

When deputies attempted to stop the vehicle in the area of Highway 16 and W. Floating Feather Rd., the vehicle failed to yield. The vehicle swerved into oncoming traffic several times. The vehicle eventually struck a pole on the side of the road near Highway 16 and N. Pollard Ln. and came to a stop.

The driver, 24-year-old Marcial De Leon Puac, did not initially comply with deputies’ commands. De Leon Puac eventually complied and was taken into custody. De Leon Puac was booked into the Ada County Jail for {F} Fleeing and Eluding, {M} Driving Without Privileges, {M} Open Container and {M} Driving Under the Influence (Excessive; 2nd Offense).

A male passenger was also in the vehicle. He was cited and released for {I} Open Container.

No injuries were reported.
