Update: Eagle Police investigating what appears to be a murder/suicide inside a local business Wednesday afternoon

Eagle Police are continuing to investigate what led 38-year-old Michael Lugaresi to walk into an Eagle business Wednesday afternoon and shoot and kill his estranged wife, 36-year-old Brittany Lugaresi, before he shot himself.

Michael Lugaresi died early Thursday morning after being taken to a local hospital for treatment of critical injury. Brittany Lucaresi was pronounced deceased at the scene of the shooting Wednesday afternoon.

Investigators have determined the couple was going through a divorce. There do not appear to be any police calls for service or reports of domestic violence at the couple’s Meridian home.

Initial information indicates Michael Lugaresi walked into a conference room in Brittany Lugaresi’s workplace in the Eagle Road/Eagle River Street area just after 1 p.m. Wednesday and shot two people, killing his wife and injuring another person nearby while they were eating lunch.

It then appears Michael Lugaresi then walked out of the building and out to the parking lot, where he shot himself in the head.

The woman who was injured was treated at a local hospital for what appear to be serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Initial information indicates that woman was not targeted by Michael Lugaresi and likely got injured because she was sitting near Brittany Lugaresi.
