ACSO deputies are looking for motorist responsible for a hit-and-run crash that badly injured two pedestrians

A south Ada County couple is in critical condition after they were hit from behind by a truck or car while walking down West Harness Drive Sunday night.

Investigators are actively searching for the driver, who did not stop after hitting the couple.

Witnesses saw a white pickup truck with an extended bed and oversize tires drive away from the scene — just a moment after they heard a loud crash and looked out to see two people on the ground.

Deputies began their investigation just before 8 p.m. Sunday when dispatchers got a 911 call.

When deputies arrived at Harness Drive, which is in the Five Mile/Amity roads neighborhood, they found a man and woman lying on the side of the road. They were visibly injured, and there were tire tracks on the gravel berm on the north side of the road where they were hit. There is no sidewalk in the area.

The 28-year-old woman and 31-year-old man were treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The truck or car that hit the couple would most likely have damage to the middle front because there was no glass from broken headlights at the scene.
