28-year-old Kuna man arrested in connection with multiple injuries suffered by his infant son

Ada County deputies declared a 7-week-old baby boy to be in imminent danger earlier this week after doctors discovered he had a fractured tibia and extensive bruising.

The boy’s father, 28-year-old Zachary R. Turner, is charged with felony counts of injury to child and inflicting great bodily injury during the commission of a crime in connection with the case.

Deputies began their investigation Tuesday afternoon after being contacted by a third party about the boy’s injuries.

A medical examination revealed the boy had a broken tibia (which is the lower leg bone that connects the knee to the ankle), numerous healing rib fractures, bruising on his upper arms, and hemorrhaging in his eyes.

Detectives interviewed Turner and the boy’s mother at the hospital before declaring the boy to be in imminent danger and placing  him in the custody of the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare.

Deputies then arrested Turner and booked him into the Ada County Jail, where he was released after posting a $20,000 bond Wednesday. Turner is set to appear in court on July 28.

The charge of felony injury to child is punishable by up to 10 years in priso
