24-year-old Caldwell man charged with lewd conduct; detectives suspect there could be more victims

Detectives are concerned that a 24-year-old Caldwell man charged with lewd conduct for having illegal sexual contact with a 14-year-old Star girl may have more victims.

Deputies with our ACTION team arrested Omar Jacovi Lopez Jr. at his home early Wednesday.

Lopez, who is also charged with sexual abuse of a minor under the age of 16, is currently being held in the Canyon County Jail but is expected to be transferred to Ada County.

Deputies began their investigation earlier this month after getting information from a third party that Lopez had illegal sexual contact with the girl in March.

Detectives later determined the girl met Lopez through Snapchat in mid-March, where Lopez told the girl he was 18 years old.

Detectives then determined Lopez drove to the girl’s home in Star, picked her up, and took her to a nearby construction area, where he forcibly sexually assaulted her, and then drove her home.

Detectives also developed evidence Lopez knew how old the girl was when he met up with her in March — and had similar sexually explicit online conversations with other girls around the same age, where Lopez said he was 18-years-old or younger.

Evidence indicates Lopez uses the names of “J” “Jocobi” “Jacob” or “Jacobi” on Snapchat; has told young girls that he is between the ages of 16-to-23 years-old; and when he makes arrangements to meet a girl, he picks them up while driving a dark green Ford F-150 pickup truck.

Anyone knows anything about the Star case or has information about other possible victims should call (208) 577-3704 or email [email protected]

The crime of lewd conduct is punishable by up to life in prison.
