Boise couple charged with felony injury to child

Ada County Sheriff’s deputies declared a 4-year-old boy to be in imminent danger earlier this month because of unsafe living conditions inside his Boise-area apartment.

The boy’s parents, 29-year-old Ryan D. Kyser and 26-year-old Meghan M. Nadorff, turned themselves in at the Ada County Jail early Saturday morning on charges of Felony Injury to Child.

Both were released after posting a $5,000 bond each.

Detectives declared the boy to be in imminent danger on Sept. 15 and placed him in the care of the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare.

That was the day deputies found the apartment the boy lived in stank of animal urine and had multiple pieces of animal hair and feces on the floors of several rooms — including the boy’s bedroom.

The apartment was also full of clutter and trash. The kitchen was full of soiled dishes, and two opened bottles of liquor on a counter that was in reach of the boy.

Detectives began their investigation in late August after being contacted by a third party about an unrelated case that also included concern about the care of the boy.

When detectives set up a meeting with Nadorff to talk about the other case, she and Kyser eventually agreed to meet with detectives but said it would not be at their apartment.

It was during that investigation that detectives developed evidence that caused them to be concerned for the boy’s well being so they went to the couple’s apartment in the Cole/Ustick roads neighborhood on Sept. 15 to check out the living conditions.

Deputies finished their investigation and sent that information to Ada County prosecutors, who issued a warrant for the felony injury to child Friday.

The pair is set to make their initial court appearance on Thursday. The crime of felony injury to child is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
