National Night Out

National Night Out (NNO) is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. It is normally held on the first Tuesday in August, and this year it will be on Tuesday, August 6, 2024.

NNO enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement, while bringing back a true sense of community. Neighborhoods host block parties, ice cream socials, festivals, and various community events with visits from emergency personnel.

Registration for this year’s event opens on May 1, 2024. Registration closes on July 1, 2024, and we will try our best to be at every party that registers. If you have any questions, reach out to our Community Engagement Team at [email protected] or (208) 577-3647.

Why Host a Block Party:

  • Get to know other people in your neighborhood you might not normally interact with
  • Strengthen relationships between your neighborhood and police
  • Build a sense of community and belonging within your neighborhood
  • Have fun playing games and eating food
  • Allows a jumping off point for neighborhood traditions

How To Get Started:

  • A few months before August, talk with your neighbors to see if there is interest in hosting a block party (HOA / neighborhood watch group if you have one)
  • Discuss the logistics of your block party: Food, games, etc. and divide up the tasks
  • Spread the word to your neighbors about your block party
  • Register your block party through the Ada County Sheriff’s Office
