Judge Tollefson was appointed to the bench as a Magistrate Judge for Ada County in 2019. His docket is comprised of domestic relations cases which includes divorce, paternity, child custody and child support, child protections, adoptions, and private termination of parental rights cases.
Prior to his appointment to the bench, Judge Tollefson worked with the Idaho Attorney General’s Office in the appellate section of the criminal law division. Before that time, his practice was wide and varied, including family and bankruptcy law, commercial litigation, and criminal law.
Judge Tollefson holds a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from the University of Idaho and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Oregon.
