Ordinary Waste

ORDINARY WASTE is generated during the normal course of daily living or business. It is basically what you throw in your trash every week for curbside pick-up. This is a routine process that most of us never give additional consideration as to:

  • where it is going
  • how it will be processed
  • how our environment might be impacted

Your trash is now out of sight and certainly out of mind. It just goes away.

Once delivered to the landfill, ordinary waste is compacted with heavy equipment and covered with sand/dirt to start the anaerobic process that creates landfill gas.

On average the Ada County Landfill accepts 550,000 tons of trash per year.
