Recycling Programs

Maximizing landfill space is a priority for Ada County. Internal recycling programs within Ada County buildings prevent thousands of pounds of cardboard, paper, plastics, and metals from going to the landfill each year.

Ada County also contracts with a NAID certified shredding service provider to dispose of confidential material including electronic media. The shredded material is baled and shipped to a domestic pulp mill.

Recycling efforts by the residents of Ada County can make an even bigger impact. To aid these efforts, the Ada County landfill provides waste diversion programs at the landfill for wood waste, used tires, refrigeration units, and computer monitors.

Hazardous waste such as paints, batteries, cleansers, and solvents are collected at the Hazardous Waste facility and various locations throughout Boise.
