Energy & Sustainability

Ada County understands energy and sustainability. With over 1 million square feet of building space, the Operations Department pays close attention to energy consumption in order to control costs wherever it can. That’s why we plan for energy use and have a full-time Energy Specialist to oversee the goals of the plan and ensure we operate our facilities efficiently.

So what is sustainability? According to the Environmental Protection Agency, Sustainability is based on a simple principle: Everything that we need for our survival and well-being depends, either directly or indirectly, on our natural environment. Sustainability creates and maintains the conditions under which humans and nature can exist in productive harmony, that permit fulfilling the social, economic and other requirements of present and future generations. How we manage our resources now, will have an immediate effect tomorrow.
