COURTROOM 400
The trial for State v. Chad G. Daybell will be held at the Ada County Courthouse in Courtroom 400 and is open to public.

UPDATE 

Effective April 22, 2024, we will be discontinuing the reservation system for daily admission tickets to Courtroom 400 for the trial of State of Idaho v. Daybell.

Starting on Monday, April 22, 2024 at 8:00 a.m. admission to attend the trial in person will be on a first-come first-served basis each morning. There will be no priority seating and no designated seating for the public or media.

Any changes to courtroom seating or admissions will be posted on this webpage, please check back regularly for updates.

Absolutely no transmission or recording of any sort, audio, video, photographic or otherwise is allowed within the courthouse, courtroom, or other areas within the control of the courts.

If you are seeking access to case documents that are sealed, please submit the following Request to Inspect Sealed Records, to the following email address: [email protected].  You will receive an email confirming that your request was received.

All requests for copies of audio or transcripts of the trial will be processed by the Ada County Transcript Office, and fees must be paid in advance.  To request the audio recording or transcript of a proceeding, please email [email protected]. Office staff will respond to the request and provide information regarding rates and turnaround time.

FEES
For audio duplication, the rate is $5.00 for the first 20 minutes, $0.25 per minute after.
For audio duplication of a full day of court proceedings the cost is $60 for the first 3 requests; additional copies of the same day will be $10.00 for a disc or flash drive and $5.00 for a link.

The rates for transcription range from $3.25 – $5.25 per page based on the preparation time.

During the trial and related proceedings in these cases access to the fourth floor of the Ada County Courthouse will be restricted and limited to those:

  1. Authorized to have access for the proceedings,
  2. Who have a reservation to attend the hearing in Courtroom 400;
  3. Attending court proceedings or having business with entities on the fourth floor.

Please note that no member of the public or media will be allowed into the courtroom while court is in session.

All cellphones and electronic devices must be turned off or be in “silent mode” on the fourth floor of the courthouse.

No audio or video recording or photography of any kind will be permitted on the fourth floor outside of a courtroom or other room being used for court proceedings.

No Media interviews or recorded or live on air sessions or appearances may take place within the Courthouse.  Please review the following Administrative Orders for full details:

There are no designated seating areas for the media within the courtroom, however, seating within the courtroom is limited.  A reservation process will be made available.  Reservations will be processed on a first-come first-served basis.  Please check back for updates.

We cannot communicate with the judge on your behalf, as ex parte communication is not allowed.  However, you can reach the Trial Court Administrator’s office by email at [email protected] with your request.  This email address is constantly being monitored and we can help direct your request for a faster response.

Courthouse Information

Parking is available in the surface Parking Lot to the East of the courthouse, and in the adjacent Parking Garage shown in green on the map below.

Parking Fee: The public receives the first hour of parking at no charge and pays $1.00 for each hour (or portion of each hour) thereafter. Juror parking is paid by the court
