Watch out for Jury Scams
Ada County citizens are being targeted by phone calls and emails threatening them with prosecution, fines and jail time for failing to comply with jury service. These calls and emails are fraudulent and are not connected with the Ada County courts.
What to do if you receive a suspicious call:
- Hang up the phone.
- Do not provide the requested information.
- Notify the Jury Commission immediately, or a local law enforcement agency.
- Do not give out gift card or credit card information.
Jury Duty is a vital civil responsibility and should be taken seriously by all citizens, and it is a crime for anyone to falsely represent himself or herself as a court official or law enforcement agent.
Not everyone will see this announcement, so please spread the word and tell your friends and family to watch for these scams.
