RE: | State v. Eathon Wesen Sentencing |
BOISE – On Thursday, 40-year-old Eathon Wesen was sentenced to prison for injuring passengers in a crash when he drove under the influence of drugs.
Ada County District Judge Samuel Hoagland sentenced Mr. Wesen to serve up to 15 years in prison, with five years fixed before being eligible for parole. The defendant’s license will also be suspended for up to 10 years.
Mr. Wesen was driving under the influence of a variety of drugs, including methamphetamine, codeine, methadone and morphine on May 10, 2020, when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed on Interstate 84 near mile marker 66. All three of his passengers were injured in the crash.
After reviewing law enforcement’s reports, the prosecutor’s office filed three felony aggravated DUI charges against Mr. Wesen. The defendant pled guilty to two of the three counts in July 2021.
“Thank you to the Idaho State Police troopers who investigated this crash and helped my office ensure justice was served,” said Jan Bennetts, Ada County Prosecutor.
