RE: | State v. Cash Adolph – Sentencing |
BOISE – A 52-year-old Boise man who followed a woman from a Boise bar and then strangled her in the middle of the street was sentenced Wednesday for felony aggravated assault following his guilty plea on May 12, 2021.
The Honorable Ada County District Judge Nancy Baskin sentenced Cash Adolph to up to five years in prison, but retained jurisdiction of the defendant for up to one year. A no contact order with the victim was also ordered for 10 years.
Mr. Adolph had contact with the victim at a Boise bar on January 13, 2021. After she left the bar, he followed her in his vehicle for a time, then chased the victim on foot into the street where he attacked and strangled her.
Bystanders who heard screaming and saw the attack, contacted law enforcement, intervened, and restrained Mr. Adolph until law enforcement arrived.
During sentencing, Judge Baskin acknowledged that had people not intervened with the defendant, the victim could have died that night.
“I want to recognize the victim for her bravery in this case, and commend the citizens who courageously intervened and helped until law enforcement arrived,” said Jan Bennetts, Ada County Prosecutor.
